Compare Backticks Side by Side

Last updated July 3, 2026

When you have two or more candidate configurations, Compare Backticks puts their results next to each other so the decision stops being a memory test.

Open the comparison view

From the navigation bar, open the Backtick menu and choose Compare Backticks. Pick the Backticks you want to weigh against each other; each one gets its own color-coded panel, so every metric and chart reads consistently across the page.

What to look at side by side

The comparison shows each Backtick's headline statistics together, which makes the trade-offs visible:

  • Total profit versus drawdown. The higher earner is not automatically better if it doubled the drawdown to get there.
  • Win rate versus payoff. Two configurations can reach similar profit through very different personalities: one wins often and small, the other rarely and large. Pick the one you can actually stick with.
  • Consistency. Scan the month-by-month results for long losing stretches. A strategy that made everything in one quarter is a different bet than one that grinds steadily.
Compare like with like: run candidates over the same date range with the same commission profile, so differences come from the strategy and not the test setup.

The comparison sections

The page goes well past a headline scoreboard. Overall Performance Comparison charts the candidates' equity curves together, and the Side-by-Side Comparison and Performance Metrics tables line up the full stat set for each run, including Sortino, MAR, and how many days each one's worst drawdown lasted. Below those, the same analytical lenses the results page applies to a single run are applied across all candidates at once:

Each candidate gets a color-coded panel, so the same metric reads consistently across the page.
  • Daily Statistics: average and extreme days for each candidate.
  • Entry Day of Week Analysis: whether the candidates earn on the same weekdays or complement each other.
  • Underlying Change Analysis and VIX & Volatility Analysis: how each candidate behaves across market moves and volatility regimes.
  • Overall Drawdown Analysis: whose losing stretches are deeper, longer, and whether they overlap.

Marking the keepers

As you review, use the star next to a Backtick's name to mark it saved. Saved Backticks stay easy to find in the Backtick Library when you come back to make the final call.

Next steps

Once a winner emerges, convert it with Turn a Winning Backtick into a Live Bot. After it has traded live for a while, close the loop and verify it is tracking the test with Compare Live Bot Trades to a Backtick. And if you want to explore many small variations of one idea rather than a few distinct candidates, use SweepTick Parameter Sweeps.
