Assign Trades Without a Strategy
A red badge on the Tracking menu means some of your trades have no strategy assigned. Filing them takes a minute and keeps every report accurate.
What the red badge means
When trades land in your account without a strategy, the Tracking menu in the navigation shows a red badge with the count of unassigned trades, and the Account Trade Log entry inside that menu carries the same count. On mobile, the same badge shows next to Tracking in the menu. Unassigned trades still count toward your account totals, but they are invisible to strategy-level reporting, so your Strategy Performance numbers understate reality until they are filed.
This usually happens with trades placed directly at your broker, trades imported before a strategy existed, or trades whose strategy was later deleted (deleting a strategy resets its trades to unassigned; see What Are Strategies in tradeSteward?).
Find the unassigned trades
Open Tracking then Account Trade Log under Trades. In the Search by Strategy filter, choose No Assigned Strategy and run the search. Widen the date range if you do not see the trades you expect; the log defaults to the last 30 days.
Assign them
You have two ways to file what you find:
- One at a time: use the Strategy column on each trade row to pick the right strategy for that trade.
- All at once: click Bulk Strategy Assignment above the table, set Old Strategy to No Assigned Strategy, pick the New Strategy, and click Update Trades. This moves only the trade rows currently rendered in the table, so raise the page length or page through your results first if your search returns more unassigned trades than fit on one page.
Prevent it going forward
To stop trades from arriving unassigned, set up Auto-Assigned Symbols on the Strategies page so trades in a given symbol file themselves, and make sure every bot has the right Strategy Assignment in its settings. See Create Strategies and Assign Trades for both.
