Multi-Entry Bots: Entries, Consolidation, and Archiving
A Multi-Entry bot is one bot with many entry times: it opens a position at each entry you give it, several can be open at once, and they all run on one shared set of settings.
What a Multi-Entry bot is
A standard bot is Single Entry: it opens one position at a time. A Multi-Entry bot opens a position at each of its entry times, so multiple positions can be open simultaneously. Each entry keeps its own identity and trade history, but they all share the Multi-Entry bot's settings: legs, sizing, exits, stops, and filters are defined once and apply to every entry.
This replaces juggling a set of near-identical bots that differ only by entry time. Instead of ten copies to edit ten times, you edit one Multi-Entry bot and every entry follows.
Reach for Multi-Entry when the strategy is the same and only the clock differs: spreading entries across the session to average your entry conditions. Keep separate bots when the configurations genuinely differ, in symbol, structure, sizing, or exits, since entries cannot deviate from the shared settings.
Create one from the bot form
On the edit bot form's Trade Entry section, switch Single or Multi-Entry to Multi-Entry. The entry-time manager appears:
- Add Entry Times works in two modes. Specific Times lets you pick an exact time and click Add Entry for each one. Interval generates a whole schedule: set Every plus the from and to times, then click Go.
- Entry Window Duration sets how long each entry keeps trying to fill after its start time.
- Max Open Positions caps how many entries can be in a trade at once: Unlimited, or a fixed count from 1 to 20.
- Your added times appear in the Entry Times list, where each entry can be paused or resumed individually. Removing entries is history-safe: an entry that has already traded is kept but disabled so its record survives, while never-traded entries are removed outright. If an entry currently has an open position, tradeSteward blocks the removal instead: disable that entry, or wait for the position to close, then remove it.
Every setting in the section is covered field by field in Bot Settings: Trade Entry and Multi-Entry.
Consolidate existing bots
Already running a set of similar standalone bots? The Consolidate wizard turns them into one Multi-Entry bot, and there are a few ways to open it. Open the Bots menu and choose Consolidate to Multi-Entry in the Create & Edit group; select bots on the View Bots page and click the bulk Consolidate button; pick bots on Bulk Edit Bots and click its Consolidate button; or, from a Multi-Entry bot's own edit page, click its Consolidate bots button to pick more standalone bots to add and jump straight to the Differences review below.
The wizard opens on an Intro step that doubles as a suggestions hub: tradeSteward scans your standalone bots and offers the combinations it finds, so most consolidations start with a single click.
- Suggested consolidations are exact matches: groups of bots whose settings already agree and that differ only by entry time. Each card shows the shared part of the bots' names, the symbol and account, and the member bots grouped by Enabled and Disabled with their entry times, each with a magnifying-glass link to inspect that bot. Click Consolidate to run one; every row of its Differences review reads as no changes required.
- Other consolidations are near matches: bots that are nearly identical, with each differing setting called out in a highlighted chip on the card. Consolidating one of these standardizes the highlighted settings to the template bot's values, so its button reads Review and drops you on the Differences step with those settings highlighted for a closer look.
- Folding into an existing Multi-Entry bot. When a group's settings match a Multi-Entry bot you already have, its card leads with an Add to button naming that bot, with a smaller link to create a new Multi-Entry bot instead. Any card can also target a Multi-Entry bot of your choosing: Choose Existing Multi-Entry lists every Multi-Entry bot on the same account and symbol along with what would change if the group joined it, and flags any that are not compatible with the reason why.
- Naming. Suggestions that create a new Multi-Entry bot pause on a naming step, prefilled with the template bot's name, so you can name the combined bot (up to 30 characters) before the Differences review. Folding into an existing bot skips this, since there is nothing to name.
Long suggestion lists are split into pages, with pager buttons under each list. And the wizard is built for cleanup sessions: after a consolidation completes, you land back on the suggestions hub with a success note, an Open the new Multi-Entry bot button, and a refreshed list, ready to run the next one.
Prefer to pick the bots yourself? Click Continue on the Intro step to walk the manual path:
- Select Bots. Pick the standalone bots to combine. Bots already part of a Multi-Entry bot are not shown.
- Type. Choose Consolidate Into a New Multi-Entry Bot or an Existing Multi-Entry Bot. A new Multi-Entry bot needs at least 2 selected bots; adding to an existing one needs at least 1. For a new one, pick the Settings template: that bot's settings become the shared settings, and it becomes the first entry. You can also give the Multi-Entry bot a name, up to 30 characters.
- Differences. Review exactly what will change on each bot when it joins, entry time by entry time. Use the trash can to drop any bot you do not want to include. tradeSteward warns you here, without blocking you, if the target Multi-Entry bot is currently disabled (its entries will not trade until you enable it) or if none of the entries you are adding are enabled (the Multi-Entry bot will not trade until you enable at least one). Nothing is saved until you finish.
A bot is not always eligible to join. Bots already part of a Multi-Entry bot are filtered out at the Select Bots step; the rest of these turn up as errors on the Differences step, where you can drop the offending bot with its trash-can icon and continue with the others:
| Reason | What it means |
|---|---|
| Already part of a Multi-Entry bot | It is already an entry somewhere else. |
| Launch Now or webhook entry | Multi-Entry bots need timed entries, not user-triggered ones. |
| Webhooks enabled | Disable webhooks on the bot first. |
| Active share link | Disable sharing on the bot first. |
| Pending or in-progress trade launch | Wait for the launch to finish before consolidating. |
| Different account | It must trade the same account as the Multi-Entry bot (or the settings-template bot, for a new one). |
| Different symbol | It must trade the same underlying symbol. |
Every consolidated bot becomes an entry and keeps its own trade history, so your performance reporting stays intact.
Work with a Multi-Entry bot's entries
On the View Bots page, a Multi-Entry bot shows a people-and-gear View Entries icon next to its name. Click it to open Viewing Entries of that bot, where each entry is listed with its own activity, trades, and performance actions: View Bot Activity, View Settings History, Run Backtick, Clone to New Bot, View Performance Log, and View Bot Trades.
Each entry in that list also carries a live Enable/Disable toggle and an editable Quantity/Size field, so you can pause or resize one entry without opening the full settings form. Leave the size field matching the Multi-Entry bot's own size and the entry keeps inheriting future base-size changes; enter a different value and only that entry uses it. Truly shared settings, legs, sizing type, exits, stops, and filters, still apply to every entry at once, so changing those still means the full form: clicking an entry's name takes you to the Multi-Entry bot's own settings. Sharing works the same way: entries cannot be shared individually, so share the Multi-Entry bot instead.
You can also take an entry back out. The Break Out to Standalone Bot action on an entry opens a Create Standalone Bot confirmation: the entry is removed from the Multi-Entry bot and restored as its own standalone bot, with its bot logs, trade performance and history, and settings all retained. Breaking out the last remaining entry deletes the now-empty Multi-Entry bot. The breakout happens immediately when you confirm. If breaking out the entry would exceed your plan's bot limit, tradeSteward asks you to free a bot slot or disable the bot first.
Archive when you are done
When a Multi-Entry bot is retired, archive it instead of deleting: click the archive icon in its Actions column and confirm in the Confirm Bot Archive dialog. Archiving disables the Multi-Entry bot and all of its entries and hides them from the bots list, with every trade record preserved.
To see archived bots again, turn on the Show Archived toggle on the View Bots page. From there you can restore a bot; restored bots stay disabled until you re-enable them.
