Balance and Profits Over Time
The Balance and Profits Over Time page charts your account growth at any interval from daily to yearly, with drawdown analysis and a period-by-period breakdown table underneath.
Open the charts
From the Tracking menu, choose Balance and Profits Over Time under Account, or go to /trading/balance/charts.
Pick accounts, interval, and dates
Three controls shape the chart:
- Select Accounts: chart one linked account, several, or All Accounts for every active account combined. Accounts you have disabled or closed at the broker are grouped under Inactive whenever they still have balance history, and All Accounts (incl. inactive) charts them alongside the rest.
- Select Interval Period: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly bars.
- Select Date Range: any span of history you want to review.
Click Chart It to redraw. A toggle above the chart switches between Account P/L and Bot P/L: Account P/L is the whole account, including anything you traded by hand, while Bot P/L isolates what your bots produced. Comparing the two is the quickest way to see whether manual trading is helping or hurting the account.
Read the results
The main chart plots your balance and profits for each period. If you are new to reading equity charts, look for two things: whether the line makes higher highs over months rather than days, and how it behaved during rough market stretches.
Below it, a drawdown chart shows how far you were off your peak at each point, switchable between dollar and percent views, with a Drawdown Summary table listing each drawdown's start, end, peak, and maximum depth in dollars and percent. A drawdown that has not yet recovered shows as still open, which is worth knowing before you judge a strategy mid-slump.
The Profits and Losses by Period table breaks every period out with its starting balance, net period profit or loss, deposits and withdrawals, ending balance, period and total percentage returns, and commissions.
The Daily Account Balance History table
For a day-by-day ledger rather than a chart, open Balance History Table in the Tracking menu, under Account (/trading/balance/history). Each row shows the date, deposits or withdrawals, net liquidation value, and your profit and loss in dollars and percent for the day, week, month, year, and all time. The same Account P/L and Bot P/L toggle applies, and the account selector works the same way as the charts, so an inactive account's daily ledger stays available.
Historical Dashboards
To replay a past trading day the way the Trading Dashboard showed it live, use Historical Dashboards (/trading/balance/dashhistory). Pick a date and account to see that day's intraday profit chart alongside the bot trades that were open, including each trade's stop and profit targets.
Where this fits with the other reports
This page answers "how is the account doing over time." For a day-by-day grid of wins and losses, use the Monthly Calendar Report; to judge results against the broader market, use Compare Your Account to the Market; and to see which bots are actually producing the profits, use Bot Performance Reports.
